The Bullet of Truth: Scribbling for a Change.

Fairy Godmother, Magic, Princess,  Prince Charming, Castle, Unicorn and Happily Ever After.

I was once a kid whose dream was to be with fantasy. A kid who wishes to fly far beyond. For I want to play with fluffy clouds and swim in the sky. Then, I will slide down the rainbow and wave to the leprechaun. Thus, I hope to explore the depths of the ocean. To which I believe to see a beautiful mermaid. I was once a kid who was a follower of magic. I was once a kid who played in a sunny world. I was once a kid.

Pushed, Shoved, Awakening, Insight and  Reality.

Those who live in the sun are often pulled harshly toward midnight. Apparently, the stage is too hard on the young stars. I was just a kid, but I saw how it was. I experience it, rather. A daylight of darkness had pushed me to scribble. I scratched every word and sought comfort in the phrases. Each sentence was a breath of life given to me, and every output is a lifeline for me. From the roughness of the sun's rays, a new course of path was born. I had inclined myself into the course of writing, I had directed myself toward the course of journalism.

People, Culture, Community, Society and Government.

Indeed, my desire and interest in journalism were rooted in personal reasoning and emotional needs. However, being a Humanities and Social Sciences student, had introduced me to the unforeseen. Which encompasses the rejects of society and those neglected by those in power. Those who are being deprived of their rights and who are being mocked by injustice. The era of accepting the crooked reality has been longing for too long. Now, I want to change the system. I am eyeing to maximize the power of the media. I want to understand how our society works and how our political systems perceive leadership. I want to question the aspects of our country. I hope to be the voice of our nation.

Truth? Blood, Cries, Screams, Disdain, Power and Apprehension.

I am well aware of how dangerous this course could be. Especially for those who speak. Radio broadcasters, part-time cartoon editorialists, and the like are called to death by someone powerful. However, this does not scare me. Who will stand for the truth if everyone is scared? Death may be scary, but letting the oppressed be pushed down before my eyes is the scariest. All the eyes of begging for alms still haunt me. All the hands shaking for mercy still bother me. All the youth striving for their potential still shakes me. It is my what if. Therefore, despite knowing that I will be putting a foot in a hole, I will still stand. It is the very least I can do. The wrath of injustice makes me sick.

I am disgusted by how the truth is being covered. An estimation of 197 deaths of journalists overall in the Philippines. 22 were slain at the time of Duterte. Now approximately five are shot dead. Thus, recently the Philippines is now the second-worst place for media. I am mad. To those in power, why?

In times like this, where misinformation and "red tagging" are prevalent. May you have the courage to stand and speak out for the voiceless. The society are being controlled by the ruler, be the light who shows camaraderie and transparency. Seek accountability, and let them pay for what they did to our fellow constituents by exposing their greed and lies. For our future journalists, good luck

"Matagal ng nakarehas ang ating mga paa, nakakandadong mga kamay, nakapiring na mga mata, bulag sa katotohanan, sa realiyad ng buhay. Oras na ng paniningil ng taong bayan, oras na para gisingin ang sariling mga diwa" In our battle to win the motherland, may you hold on to me till the end. We have a long way to go. It was not our loss; we did not lose. Who will call out their deeds if no one will? It's us, this is our time. Laban para sa bayang sinilangan!

    1. Your feedback somehow touched my heart; thank you for pushing my passion. Regardless of the hands that prevent me from pursuing this path, You are the people who keep giving me reasons to fight for. Indeed, the absence of journalists will increase the number of ignorant people who spread fake news. The abrupt cases of discrimination, abuse, and such in journalist are alarming. But this won't stop me, as the world needs people with this clean intention to serve the coutry.

    1. Not gonna lie, there's still a hunch of fear inside me, but I think the reason I keep going and doing this, is because every time we walk around, we see hopelessness in the faces of each person. It makes me weak; however, those feelings of negativity fuel my passion and fire me up.

    1. I agree with you that we must put an end to the generational sufferings that has been rooted by those who sat in the chair. For the title, I think this implies also to our fellow citizen. Different administrations have passed. As time goes by, we learn to blend and cope with changes. Unfortunately, I thought, we Filipinos have learned from our mistakes in choosing public officials who didn't prioritize our needs after all. However, the decisions of the majority disappoint me. Even when life presents us with the truth, we sometimes choose to be blind and be manipulated by our own emotions and perceptions. The truth is painful; it will cause you pain; however, what is the point of believing beautiful lies that are far from reality?
