I am an introvert. I love cuddling in my own world. I like being invisible to the eyes. I am invisible, which I do enjoy. People barely acknowledge my presence or get intimidated by me, bu not that does not bother me. I can sit alone in a dark room for hours, unafraid. Though, in those moments, I have a friend. A friend who takes me away from this realm. A friend who would take me to the deepest ocean but would never drown me. A friend who made me a pair of wings that do not tire. A friend who paints the most beautiful moon and stars.A friend named Book. My longest friend.
Since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by the motion of things. "Mama, why is that spinning?" "Ma, how did they teach the water to dance?" "Ma, what is the spikey thing doing there?" My mother apparently got tired of these questions. Therefore, she got me my first book. It was an encyclopedia, quite complex for a kid. However, I am never bothered. Honestly, I was happy, ecstatic rather. I remember being so amused with the picture and trying to comprehend the few words I could follow as I was feeling myself at that time. My mother was quite happy with the progress I had made since she had brought me to the bookstore.

Oh, it was heaven! All the books smell like a woodish Rosal. All are arranged in a chronological order that is calming for the eyes. All are just waiting to be unraveled. On that day, I became friends with a book. On that day, we became separable. On that day, books had become my identity.
As a kid, I was in love with short stories. Stories that feature love stories about princes and princesses. It makes me want to dream about living in the palace and just having the best of life. Sometimes, kiss a frog! Although on a good note, I became a good kid by reading. I exerted loads of effort in doing house chores. I started being a lot nicer to the animals. I even exert much more effort in helping other people.
Obviously, I adore Cinderella so much that I believe a fairy will grant me a wish for my kind heart. The fairy godmother did not come. Am I that rude? Just kidding.

However, when I grew up, I was more attached to mystery. As this tickles my critical thinking and tends to blow my mind off sometimes. Furthermore, genres of such are usually a mirror of society. Which would help me not only to blow off steam but to have more insights about the world. This also allows my intellect to be more exercised. I also observed that I was much more insightful to the environment. Other than mystery, I also love tragedy. For it makes me feel things. Things that I tried hard to escape. Things that I forgot. It simply opens a hole in myself that allows me to vent. Aside from that, I am reading to improve my communication skills. As reading increases my vocabulary of words and my comprehension, which I utilize for more effective and fun interaction with other people. This is also in reverse on how I would react back towards them.
Hence, some books were based on the author’s life. Therefore, I use these guidelines in expecting people’s responses or how to respond.
Books are simply my go-to comfort. My safe space. A place where I know all my demons are scared of.

ReplyDeleteBooks do help us become better people than we were yesterday. Indeed, a road to success. We are able to see the other side of the coin and let our imagination fly. Authors let you travel to the worlds they make, meeting characters who may be protagonists or villains in our lives. It depends on how they perceive them.
